Long Demands Out
Long Demands Out Long was drafted by SF earlier with the 3rd pick. He obviously wasn’t happy about the team selection. But he still signed a contract with them. But now his mind’s changed. He wanted out. He told his agent he wanted out, and SF obliged. So SF traded Long for Dan Orlovsky, a QB drafted in the 5th round 2 years ago and a 3rd round pick for Long. Detroit seriously needed a QB. And now they’ve got one. The Detroit management had this to say about him. “I seriously do believe in Mike as a quality franchise QB. And when we heard he wanted out of SF, we wanted him. We knew we were going to need a good QB for the season, with Doug Johnson or Orlovsky starting. And we knew SF wanted him out quickly. We thought about the decision, and we knew that we’d be bringing in an Eli Manning, a T.O. who didn’t want their team. But we still wanted him. He is a great QB, and we would have drafted him if he somehow slipped that far down the charts. When Detroit were questioned about brining in another Oregon QB, which in previous years provided draft busts Ryan Leaf and Joey Harrington, they had this to say. Oregon Ducks are notorious for having great draft busts. Leaf, Harrington and now Long. But we believe Long would be a great QB. Many other teams thought otherwise; the Curse of the Throwing Duck. We’d be happy to give Long a good chance in the league. If he works out, we’d be a great team. If not, we can get other QB. We didn’t give up much on Mike, but we’d like to see him develop well. SF fans were angry about Long’s decision. After it was reported no other team wanted to trade their rookie QB for Long, they decided Orlovsky was the best they could do. We’d thought Long would be a great rolemodel a SF 49er official said. But we were wrong. Long hated SF, and we went bye bye to us. And no other team wanted him. We’d had to do the best. We got the best deal out of Detroit. And we’ll be starting either Alex (Smith) or Trent (Dilfer) again.

^ Actually your previous starting QB is Doug Johnson, rated 74 OVR or 76 OVR. And your leading WR is 90 OVR, and Kevin Johnson is around 88 OVR.

Ryan Leaf went to Washington State its his brother that is at Oregon. Just thought I'd clear that up.
